REALITY BETTER THAN DREAMS: AN INTERVIEW WITH KATRINA KAIF

She was almost written off when she arrived in Bollywood. Nearly a decade later, with three Yash Raj projects, three reigning Khans as her co-stars and endorsements galore, actress Katrina Kaif says reality is far better than dreams.

Katrina, 27, has teamed up with ex-boyfriend Salman Khan in "Ek Tha Tiger", Aamir Khan in "Dhoom 3" and Shah Rukh Khan for an untitled film -- all are being made under Yash Raj Films (YRF).

 

Not just that. Veteran director Yash Chopra is directing her film with Shah Rukh.

"Yashji undoubtedly is the king of romance and I have always admired the way he presents his heroines. It was always a dream to work with him and the reality is even better," Katrina, who was brought up in Britain and boasts of 28 Bollywood films, told IANS in an e-mail interview.

"He is very precise in his brief on what he expects from a scene and extremely perceptive. It has been amazing to work with him," she added.

YRF's untitled film is her first project with Shah Rukh. Katrina is bowled over by the superstar's energy.

"Shah Rukh is a thorough gentleman and it is a delight to work with him. I admire the sheer energy, hard work and passion that he puts into his work. It is also nice that my first film with him is a Yash Chopra film; they have done some great work together," she said.

If Katrina is getting into romantic mode with Shah Rukh, she will be doing a lot of action too with Aamir in "Dhoom 3".

" 'Dhoom 3' is a concept film and the characters are required to look a certain way and do physically strenuous sequences. So there is a lot of physical training involved to prepare for the role," said Katrina.

Today she is counted among the top Bollywood actresses, but Katrina doesn't believe in the numbers game and tries not to let anyone down.

"I don't believe in numbers; the fact that I'm getting to work with the best people in the industry makes me feel blessed. With every project I get to learn so much that I can't thank all the people around enough," she said.

"Every day in this industry is an experience in itself and I try to work hard not to let anyone down. It is a great feeling, but it does come with responsibility towards your colleagues and the audiences," she added.

When Katrina entered Bollywood with the 2003 release "Boom", trade pundits had predicted it was touch and go for her in tinsel town. But she has proved everyone wrong by giving hit after hit.

In a span of almost a decade, Katrina has given hits like "Maine Pyaar Kyon Kiya?", "Welcome", "Sarkar", "Race", "Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani", "Raajneeti" and "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara".

"I am very fortunate that I have been working with some very senior and experienced directors almost from the beginning of my career - Raj Kanwar, Abbas-Mustan, Raj Kumar Santoshi to name a few," said Katrina, whose recent Slice ad "Ab Ras Barsega" is out and she is looking her ravishing best in it.

"As for the directors, banners, actors and projects I am working with today, I have just gone about doing my work to the best of my abilities and in as professional a manner as possible," she added.

The actress is furious with the online hacker who is sending random e-mails from her account and also has access to all her personal photographs and film scripts Mahie Gill is furious and the cause of her ire is the hacker who has played havoc with her e-mail ID. She is currently feeling handicapped without an account as she has been told to create a new one. “My biggest worry is that the scripts and my personal stuff might fall into wrong hands, ” she rues.

Nothing soothes me like a lovely massage

My idea of relaxation is watching a nice movie. A long spa session is even better. Nothing soothes you like a lovely massage or pedicure. Apart from that, I am learning cooking. I am crazy about Italian food, but I haven’t mastered the recipes as yet. I am also big time into fitness. I hit the gym quite often or unwind by taking long walks by the beach. Being with my family also helps me de-stress. As I live away from them, I miss them a lot. So, family time is very important for me. It is always fun going out with them for dinners, or just chilling with them. At times, when I feel a little nostalgic, I just sit and look at old family photos and videos.

पटियाला में बलवंत सिंह की फांसी के विरोध में प्रदर्शनकारियों ने अमृतसर दादर ट्रेन रोकी। एसएसपी पटियाला पर भी हमला किया गया। करनाल में बलवंत सिंह के समर्थकों ने बड़ी संख्या में घंटा घर चौक पर जमा हुए और जाम लगाया। प्रशासन ने भारी संख्या में पुलिस बल तैनात कर दिए है।

पंजाब के संगरूर-भटिंडा मार्ग पर सिख समुदाय नें राजोआना की फांसी के खिलाफ जाम लगया। पठानकोट में पंजाब बंद का असर नहीं दिखा। यहां रोजमरा की तरह दुकानदारों ने अपनी दुकानें खोली। शिव सेना के पंजाब प्रभारी ने फांसी देने की बात कही। वहीं प्रदर्शकारियों ने पठानकोट- चंडीगढ़ रोड जाम कर दिया। अमृतसर में भारी संख्या में सुरक्षा बल तैनात किए गए हैं। केंद्रीय कानून मंत्री सलमान खुर्शीद ने कहा है कि वो नहीं जानते कि कौन राजनीति कर रहा है लेकिन जो कानून है उसका पालन होना चाहिए।

पंजाब: बलवंत की फांसी की सजा पर सरकार में दो फाड़

पंजाब के एडवोकेट जनरल अशोक अग्रवाल ने बताया कि अभी तक हमें कोर्ट की सर्टीफाइड कॉपी नहीं मिली है। जब मिलेगी तभी हम हाईकोर्ट में अपील कर पाएंगे। गौरतलब है कि बेअंत सिंह के परिवार का इस विरोध के बारे में कहना है कि पंजाब की अमन शांति के लिए जो भी सरकार कार्रवाई करती है। हम उनके साथ हैं। इसपर राजनीति नहीं होनी चाहिए। आपस में बैठकर इसका हल निकाला जा सकता है। इस तरह बंद नहीं करना सही नहीं है। इससे लोगों में डर पैदा होता है। हम पंजाब की अमन और शांति में रोड़ा नहीं बनना चाहते।
